The front two speakers in my car only have a frequency range down to 50Hz, as a result there is severe distortion and ''smacking'' of the speaker cone when the signal drops below 50Hz. l would like to make a high pass filter to stop the signal going outside the range of the speaker as the headunit has a better freq range than the speaker. The highest range is 23kHz so this is not a problem.

l would not go down as far as 50 hz. A crossover does not just cut off the frequencies below the set point. There is a roll off. In most cases it is between 12 & 24 decibels per octave. Depending on the size of the speaker, & i'm just spitballing here, The frequency cut off will have to change.
