Its exactly the title, my system is running a 900 watts RMS amp and a 22 watts RMS deck. do l need one?

Alls radios and other sound equipment have capacitors in them

Farad is a measurement of energy. A typical stiffening capacitor is 1 Farad. Although u can find smaller & now much larger ones.

Determining if u need one or not is more tricky? What kind of car is it? How large is the alternator? Do ur lights dim when the bass hits? Are u running multiple amps?

A 1 Farad cap is pretty cheap & with a modest system l would recommend adding one just to clean up the voltage & back up the power supply for bass notes.

u do not need a cap, but u could get 1, its only gonna help with ur lights dimming. it doesnt really help, unless u have a hugh system. u may hear a litle difference in how hard the bass hits, not much though.


but based on ur RMS of ur amp though ur Running an 1800 WAtt max amp right, which means u will need a 1.8 farad, or 2 farad Cap even higher if u want..

you dont us a cap for ur radio its only for ur amps, so the Radio RMS is irrelevant.. l say if u wanna get 1 get a 2 farad or 3 farad, when l buy 1 for my systems l always get about a farad higher. in case l decide to add an amp later.

so if ur amp is 1800Watt max get a 2 farad, if its any higher then that like 2100 get a 3 farad.

1 farad=1000WATTS or base..And so on & so on.
