If l have subs that go up to 400rms 4ohms would it damage the subs in anyway or sqrew something up if l got a amp that is 500rms 4ohms also it is a monoblock amp and the max watts is 1000 and on the subs it is 1100 please tell me if that would effect anything

If you turn the gains up all the way and leave it there, it may blow the sub at some point depending on what you are listening to.

no it is better to have the amp over power the subs than to have the subs overpower the amp. you should be all set.

Everything will be alright, you just dont want to turn the gain all the way up because the amp might get a burst of wattage and put out more than expected and blow your subs but l wouldnt worry about that, everything should be all good.

It would not hurt the speakers IFD you used less than 80% of the the amp.Always use the lesser number.

Now for the REAL answer.

If u adjust the gain right all will be well.

The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).
