l have two 15'' Titan subwoofers hooked up to a home stereo system. l do not have an amp for them so that is why l hooked them up to my stereo in my room. It sounds pretty good, but l was told that it could fry the speakers. l do not see how though because there should not be very much pushing through to the speakers. Should l continue to have them hooked up to the stereo system? Will there be any long term effects of doing what l am doing? Will the speakers fry like l was told they would? l cant find anything on google at all about Titan subwoofers. Please help me =] Thanks

No dude its fine. All you're doing is underpowering them. Underpowering subs will not hurt them.

most understood thing about speakers is that too much power will blow a speaker.. in fact its too little of power that will blow a speaker. u could be damaging the speaker its hard to say l do not know anything about titan speakers. simple rule of fact if it sounds like ur damaging it u probably are.

if the subs sound good & clean without distortion, as long as u do not overkill it they should be fine.

You wo not fry the speakers on your home stereo. If you are listening to them at a level that is undistorted, they are not being harmed. The speakers could care less if the audio source is auto or house based. There is no such thing as a ''car'' speaker or a ''home'' speaker at the functional level. Use them as you please and ignore your ''experts''.

The thing l would be concerned about is ur house amplifier/receiver. Most r not designed to run speakers under an 8 ohm load. If the subs r 4 ohm SVC & u r running one on each channel then u could be running the risk of damaging the amp, not the subs. If they're 4 ohm DVC & u have the coils wired for 8 ohm loads then u r good. Running an 8 ohm amp at a 4 ohm load will certainly sound good.for a while, until the amps output transistors or IC overheats & shorts out.
BTW l used 2 Titan 15'' subs on my repair bench for many years & they held up surprisingly well. Especially considering that they only cost me $18 each wholesale.lol. The company no longer exists which is why u can not find any information on them anymore.
